Man these Alito hearings are a joke! They can hide behind legal terms all they want but the guy knows right now how he would rule in a case to overturn Roe v Wade. PERIOD. Is it so hard to ask "Sir...all legal mumbo jumbo aside...how would you rule in a case to overturn Roe v. Wade?"...of course he wouldn't answer this and even if he did, who cares? What are we going to do after the fact? What he says in the hearings is completely irrelevant. Once he's in, we won't be recalling him like some judicial Gray Davis! All we can say then is "but...you said you wouldn't restrict a woman's right to choose...or you made it seem that way at least...waaaaaaaaah."

It's curious that when people say things like this, anyone actually takes them seriously. Oh...and yes...we liberals run the media... strangely we just don't bother reporting the NSA domestic spying until a year after we found out about it and the massacres in Fallujah...anyway, I digress. The bottom line is, the same people who truly believe liberals want to destroy America think it's utterly ridiculous if not treasonous to suggest that say...our government may have taken advantage of 9/11 to grab excessive powers they are known to be abusing, or to invade a country that was no threat to us and that our leaders had been itching to invade for years...just because we can read about it on their own website for the PNAC doesn't mean there was anything fishy with their Iraq plans!

It's perfectly plausible that they had absolutely no inkling Bin Laden would attack...and yet that they knew he was the culprit twenty minutes after it happened! Of course we couldn't infiltrate the complex network of Al Qaeda! It's not like John Walker Lindh had an easy time joining them! He had to travel all the way to Afghanistan to do it! None of our own intelligence agents could have done anything that kooky! The fact that there were four NORAD tests going on the day of 9/11 and that some were about planes crashing into buildings...just a wacky coincidence! No one could envision planes used as weapons! What a crazy idea! Only a liberal could deny all these things are just sheer chance occurrences!...a liberal bent on destroying America!
Why do an actual criminal investigation into the greatest murder in US history? Why not dispose of all the WTC rubble ASAP? Of course we should spy on US citizens and follow and intimidate peace activists! There's no room to question in a time of WAR...This is WAR after all...open-ended perpetual WAR! There's no room for questioning ever again!!!!...unless it's the government doing the questioning. Then it's ok to torture...oh I mean make stuff unpleasant...sorry...and we all know nobody under duress would ever lie about anything or say whatever people want to hear just to make the pain stop...I guess we're taking lessons from our sworn enemy Saddam...we USED to be in the forefront of innovation...

Rather than roll back tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans, the House Republicans have got a wonderful plan to fund Katrina rebuilding with cuts for the Global Aids Initiative, The Peace Corps, grants for energy conservation, Amtrak...the list goes on and on. See here...Meanwhile the recommendations to help fix our electoral problems (oh there's no problems I forgot...) brought forth by Bush lawyer James Baker and Jimmy Carter (why Mr Carter???) will serve to further disenfranchise poor and minority voters with their hare-brained voter ID card system. Tom Daschle has rightly called this a poll tax and I can't believe how successfully the scumbags running this country are un-Democratizing it. It really can happen here...but no one ever believes it can (happen wherever they call "here") until it already has.

I just found out about this...strangely it didn't get much notice when published in March. Assumed Bush yes-man Tom Ridge told the USA Today that he often disagreed with the administration's decisions to raise threat levels based on no good reason. Hmmm...they couldn't be doing so because it was politically expedient...oh noooOOOOoooooo...
